Athéra the Lizard - Character Rig Showcase

For my final semester at my community college I took a rigging class, and throughout that course I built this character, Athéra, from scratch. She was drawn out in Clip Studio Paint, sculpted roughly in Zbrush, then retopologized, rigged, and animated in Maya. Building her was a great opportunity to practice all the relevant skills for rigging, and a great review of what I'd known and needed to learn. I think the end result turned out pretty good, far better than the robots I'd built for a previous project, though there's definitely still room for improvement here and there.

I'm hoping I can take what I learned from this and apply it to better rigs in the future. Here's hoping!

This project was created using the student edition of Maya.

Some rough concept sketches to get a feel for the character. This iteration didn't end up keeping the staff, but I'm looking to explore it later.

The model sheet created for the character. This isn't the true, complete coloring for her, but it was sufficient to show what I needed and to separate the clothing from the body visually.
